Holiday and Special Services

easter_stainedglassBryn Athyn Church welcomes everyone to join us at any of our holiday and special worship services.  Please check our calendar for service times and locations, as services are often held during each of our regular worship service venues and time slots.

Thanksgiving Family Service – Held on Thanksgiving Day at the Asplundh Field House (2775 Buck Road, Bryn Athyn, PA 19009). During the service, everyone is invited to bring the fruit forward as an offering. There is no Sunday school or nursery provided.

Cathedral Tableaux/Pageant – A Christmas pageant of nativity scenes held at the Bryn Athyn Cathedral. Christmas hymns and special music are included. Four services offered: 3:30, 5:15, 7:00 and 8:15 pm.

Children’s Pageant – A Christmas pageant of nativity scenes geared for young children held in Heilman Hall at 3:30 pm.

Advent Vespers – A service with Christmas readings and music held at the Cathedral at 7:30 pm. Preludes begin at 7:10 pm

Christmas Eve Family Service – A candlelit service at the Cathedral offered at 4:00, 5:30 and 7:00 pm.

Christmas Eve Young Children’s Service – A service with a live nativity scene geared for young children held in the Cathedral Council Chamber at 4:00 pm.

Christmas Eve Midnight Service – A service of carols and readings held at midnight in Heilman Hall (600 Tomlinson Road, Bryn Athyn, PA 19009).

Christmas Day Adult Service – Held on Christmas Day in the Cathedral at 11:30 am.

Palm Sunday – Held in our regular worship service formats, locations and times. You may pick up a palm branch as you enter the church, to be carried forward and laid on the chancel during the first hymn.

Maundy Thursday Holy Supper Services – Contemporary format service held at Heilman Hall at 8:00 pm. Traditional service held at the Cathedral at 7:00 pm.

Good Friday Vespers – An adult service held at 7:30 pm in the Cathedral, with extended lessons from the Easter story and an Easter musical work, such as a Requiem, from the Cathedral Chamber Orchestra and Choir.

Easter – held in our regular worship service formats, locations and times. The congregation is invited to bring an offering of flowers to celebrate the Lord’s resurrection.

New Church Day (held on June 19th) – is a special theatrical service, preceded by a picnic, held on the Cathedral grounds, weather permitting (poor weather moves the service to inside the Cathedral).

Sunset Organ Vespers – Enjoy an hour of beautiful organ music interspersed with uplifting readings. Held at the Cathedral once a month during the summer months. Doors open at 6:30 pm.
