in the Asplundh Field House
Please join us for this year’s Thanksgiving service which will be held in the Asplundh Field House (see location below). We welcome everyone to worship together for this holiday of gratitude.
We will continue our annual traditional of collecting fruit offerings (fruit, root vegetables, winter squash, etc). Please do not bring dry goods or canned goods. This fruit offering procession is a religious tradition of the offering of the first fruits. The fruit is sorted into fruit baskets that are given to people in the community who have lost a loved one in the past year. Also, boxes of fruit are taken to various food banks, shelters, and senior centers.
NOTE: If you are not able to attend the Thanksgiving Service, but want to bring a fruit offering, please drop it off at the Field House Thursday morning before the service.
Masks are optional for this year’s service.

With the help of our wonderful volunteers, we are able to offer van shuttles to transport attendees to and from remote parking around Bryn Athyn. The van shuttles will pick up from Pitcairn Hall, Mitchell Performing Arts Center, and the Society Building. Please see the map for the exact parking locations highlighted in green. There will be continuous pick-ups starting at 10:00 am and drop-offs after the service.
For Cairnwood Village residents, shuttle pick-up times are 9:45, 10:00, and 10:15 am.
This year, we welcome the Penn View Brass Band- a 26-piece British-style brass band playing preludes before the service- starting at 10:00 am. Please come early to enjoy the wonderful music!
Also, the Choristers, which is an advanced choir program for elementary school-aged children, will be singing the final prelude and an interlude.
Many volunteers are needed to transform the big double gym space at the Asplundh Field House into a house of worship. Some of the volunteer roles to be filled are:
- Physical set-up of chairs and chancel on Wednesday morning, November 23, 2022
- Greeters and coat assistants
- Shuttle drivers (ANC-approved van drivers)
- Parking attendants
- Packing fruit offerings in boxes right after the service
- Creating fruit baskets for those who have recently lost a loved one, and boxes for outside organizations on Friday morning, November 25, 2022.
Please consider helping us create this special event. Contact Nina (email@example.com or 215-947-6225 x206) to volunteer or to learn more. Thanks!
