Music – Sunset Organ Vespers

Thank you to all who came to share our first series of Sunset Organ Vespers this past summer.  We look forward to planning another series in the summer of 2018 and hope to see you there.  Watch this space for dates: likely to be Sunday evenings, one each in June, July, August, and September.

The Sunset Organ Vespers service features organ music interspersed with readings from scripture.  It is timed around the setting of the sun, intended as a pleasant close to the  end of the day and taking advantage of the view to the West from the Cathedral hill.  Listeners can enjoy the readings and musical selections from inside the beautiful church building or sitting outside on the grounds.  Indoor seating is open one-half hour before the start of the service.  It is a free event and visitors are welcomed. We do accept a freewill offering from those who are so moved.

The 2017 Sunset Organ Vespers were:

June – Terry Schnarr, Principal Organist of the Bryn Athyn Church

July – Leah Martin, student at the Jacobs School of Music

August – Kenneth Coy, Assistant Organist of the Bryn Athyn Church

September – Rudolph Lucente, Liturgy Director at St. Rose Catholic Church in North Wales, PA, Faculty at St. Charles Borromeo Seminary, Assistant Organist at the Grand Court Organ in Macy’s (formerly Wanamaker’s) and during the holidays, Staff Organist at Longwood Gardens.
