September 2016 Pastor’s Council Meeting

A number of topics came up at this month’s Pastor’s Council including the recommendation that when announcements are made after church services about someone passing away that a moment of silence or other similar time for reflection would be appreciated rather than going directly to other announcements. There was a discussion of worship attendance with an observation that some older people don’t personally know the pastors and this makes some difference in their motivation to attend. We talked about the young adults in the congregation and some of their perspectives. Another topic was the question about having women serve as ushers at the Cathedral services. Mostly people seem to see this possibility in a positive light. Finally, it was also recommended that we put regular notices in the Post reminding people that the pastoral staff would appreciate hearing about people who are in the hospital or who would otherwise enjoy a visit by a pastor. Or you could request the ongoing care of a Stephen Minster.
