Ways to Get Involved

One great way to get involved is through service and volunteering!
New Church theology and teachings emphasize the importance of service to others – sometimes called the Doctrine of Use (or Usefulness). It is through service that we connect with the Lord, and obtain true happiness.
“The only source of anyone’s true happiness is doing something useful.” (True Christianity 735:5)
“Heavenly joy is the delight found in doing something useful for ourselves or for others.” (True Christianity 734:3)
“And the King will answer and say to them, ‘Assuredly, I say to you, inasmuch as you did it [fed the hungry, helped a stranger, etc.] to one of the least of these My brethren, you did it to Me.’ (Matthew 25:40)
With such an emphasis on service, and loving the neighbor, an important function of our church is to provide a place for everyone to contribute and to make a difference. You will find it common that people help each other, and support each other, throughout the community. Nowhere is this more evident than in seeing church members coming together to help each other in time of need.
It is also evident in finding all the ways that individuals volunteer and support the church. The following list is a sampling of ways that church members can volunteer to support the services and activities of our church.
- Stephen Ministry
- Pay It Forward
- Guides for the Cathedral
- Hospitality / Refreshments
- Media (e.g., live and recorded services)
